Timothy Swan - Churchwarden
|
Timothy and Angela came to Thornbury in January 1967 shortly after Tim took employment as a research Physical Chemist at the CEGB Berkeley Nuclear Laboratory: they have been at St Mary's ever since.
For most of that time Tim has served on the PCC and has had two long periods as Treasurer and also served previously as People's Warden (when we used to draw that distinction). As well as being PCC Treasurer he was also treasurer for St Mary's Church Hall during a period of 17 years which saw the use of that facility as a community asset grow from small beginnings when it moved to its present site.
At present he looks after Stewardship and Environmental matters for the PCC as well as being Warden and having a close interest in the re-ordering of St Mary's. He is also "cub photographer" for the parish magazine, Ch@t, edited by Angela. In recent years he has collected a significant archive of photographs of Parish activities - most people now run when they see him coming with his "Brownie"! His handiwork often appears in posters around St Mary's and St Paul's Churches.
