Michael Vooght was Vicar here for 17 years before David Primrose and then John Suddards were appointed. Michael and Elizabeth are very happy to have been able to stay in Thornbury in retirement, living now at the top of the High Street.

Before coming to Thornbury as Vicar, Michael was first a Curate in South London, then in Prestbury, Cheltenham, where he met and married
Elizabeth, newly qualified as a teacher in the local Church School, and where Tom was born.

Then they moved to Minchinhampton, near Stroud, where Michael was the incumbent for nearly 13 years.

In retirement, Michael enjoys singing in the Bristol Choral Society, and playing the piano in a music workshop in Hotwells most weeks. He and Elizabeth have one of Daggs' allotments near their house, and enjoy various produce from it.

Michael still puts his collar on some days to preside and preach at St Mary Redcliffe, Bristol, where he is an honorary Curate, as well as sometimes taking part at St Mary's and St Paul's. He also values his part time voluntary chaplaincy at Southmead Hospital.

Elizabeth continues to enjoy leading Art Workshops and welcoming people for Quiet Days at 62 High Street. Tom lives in Bristol and works as a Senior Analyst at Orange.
